Unveiling the Extraordinary: BODYTRAFFIC Takes Center Stage at the Annenberg Center, Jan 19-20

Excitement is in the air as Penn Live Arts proudly presents the dynamic and mesmerizing BODYTRAFFIC at the Annenberg Center, 3680 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, on January 19-20, 2024. Brace yourselves for an unforgettable weekend filled with groundbreaking performances, as this celebrated contemporary dance company brings its unique blend of “vivid theatricality” and bold innovation to the City of Brotherly Love.

BODYTRAFFIC has long been recognized for its ability to infuse life and energy into the language of dance. Known for their commitment to pushing boundaries and commissioning works from some of today’s most dynamic choreographers, this renowned company returns with an extraordinary lineup that promises to be a feast for the senses.

The anticipation builds as BODYTRAFFIC unveils not one but four sensational works, each a testament to the company’s commitment to artistic excellence. The commissioned world premiere by Matthew Neenan sets the stage for an evening of innovation and creativity. Neenan, a master of storytelling through movement, promises to captivate audiences with his unparalleled choreographic vision.

Joining the program are three Philadelphia premieres that promise to be nothing short of transformative. Micaela Taylor’s “Love.Lost.Fly” explores the powerful connections that can be formed between individuals from different worlds. In a response to the opioid crisis, Baye & Asa present “The One to Stay With,” a poignant piece that uses dance to shed light on the impact of this pressing issue.

And then there’s “PACOPEPEPLUTO” by Alejandro Cerrudo, a celebration of self-expression set to the timeless hits of Dean Martin. This witty and visually stunning piece promises to honor individuality through clever solos, all while embracing the charm of Dean Martin’s music. However, it’s essential to note that “PACOPEPEPLUTO” contains partial nudity, adding an extra layer of boldness to the performance.
