Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble to Present Annual Black History Month Concert

Quoted as “one of the city’s most affecting dance companies” by J. Cooper Robb of Philadelphia Weekly, contemporary modern dance company Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble continues their 5th Anniversary Season with their annual Black History Month Concert. This year’s concert, “Celebrating the Beginning…Finding the Purpose!” will be held Friday and Saturday, February 4th and 5th, 2011 at Conwell Dance Theatre on the campus of Temple University. The ensemble will present “Caged,” a new work by former Pennsylvania Ballet soloist and artistic director of Carbon Dance Theatre Meredith Rainey. Under the guidance of Founder/C.E.O and Artistic Director Antoinette M. Coward-Gilmore, the concert will also include treasured works from the company’s repertory including Zane Booker’s “Invisible Sister”, Bill Thomas’s “Portrait” and Shawn-Lamere Williams’s “Givin’ Up.” This amazing event will also feature performances by Nia-Next, the apprentice company of Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble.
