Philly Queer Tango: First Sundays Drop in Class
November 3 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 6:00 pm on day First of the month, repeating indefinitely
In the City of Brotherly Love, Philly Queer Tango welcomes all who are interested in exploring open role tango in an LGBTQI friendly environment. Tango is a social, improvised dance that began in Buenos Aires, Argentina more than a century ago and is now danced around the world! During its genesis, dancers practiced both roles regardless of their gender in order to become adept at dancing all night long at the milongas (tango social parties). Today, dancing your preferred role is no longer bound by gender norms and we couldn’t be more proud to be a part of how this dance continues to grow and include everyone!
So come on out to make friends, learn to dance, and participate in creating a diverse, welcoming, positive tango community. #tango4all
Lesson from 6-7pm, stay for as long as you like afterwards to continue exploring this dance. This is a great time to check out tango if you’re new, or if you want to try out a different role than you’ve danced before. Or, come hone your skills and help grow the queer tango community!
$10 cash only please.
