Philadelphia Argentine Tango School – ONLINE – Tango Lecture Series – V-REAL Sessions: Tangos from the 21st Century
April 28 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, repeating until April 28, 2021
Juan Villarreal with special guests
The pandemic has forced us to put our regular tango lives on pause, and given us the chance to rethink many things. I hope that, when we return to the milonga, we’ll hear a greater variety of music than before, incorporating present-day danceable tangos as well as Golden Age and Guardia Vieja-era music.
For this reason, I asked contemporary tango musician, Juan Villarreal, to take over the Tango Lecture Series for a whole month. He’ll be introducing us to some of the music and lyrics of contemporary tangos, to new orchestras, and to new forms of expression within the tango genre. He’ll also be inviting guest DJs in to help tackle the questions that come up when we want to mix modern tango with tangos from the past.
This series will be interesting for DJs and non-DJs, tango dancers, and even non-dancing music lovers. In short, the series will offer something for everyone.
We are also offering a special deal on this series: purchase 3 weeks of lectures and get the 4th free. The sessions will be videoed and available after-the-fact for those with schedule conflicts and time zone issues.
