Below is a general guide for how you can promote your dance performance through our network to reach not only the dance community but also the dance audience in the Philadelphia region.
Performances listed or promoted through PhiladelphiaDANCE.org and The Dance Journal must contain dance as a key element. It can be an interdisciplinary work as long as dance is one of the genres. Work must occur in the Greater Philadelphia region. We do not cover events in New Jersey, Delaware or out of the region.
List Your Event On The Dance Calendar
This should be your first step in announcing your performance. Simply go to http://www.philadelphiadance.org/calendar/ and click on Submit Event in the right hand menu and then follow the instructions on the form for posting your event. Listings on the calendar are automatically included in our weekly eNewsletter and if posted before the 1st of the month in which your event occurs, will also be added to This Month In Dance. The potential combined exposure rate from just this listing is 25,000 monthly views.
Post Your Event To The Listserv
The listserv is an application that distributes messages to subscribers on an electronic mailing list. This is the official email list for the Philadelphia Dance Community. Your event will be seen by approximately 2,300 dance professionals and organizations. You MUST be a member to post. Membership is free and you can subscribe at http://philadelphiadance.org/mailman/listinfo/listserv_philadelphiadance.org Guidelines and instructions on how to post to the listserv may be found at http://www.philadelphiadance.org/listservrules.html
Submit Your Press Release to The Dance Journal
The Dance Journal is a publication of PhiladelphiaDANCE.org that reaches over 50,000 subscribers each month. Articles posted here gain extra exposure through a variety of social media as well. Press releases, as a word document, must be sent with an accompanying photo to be considered. More specific guidelines may be found here – https://philadelphiadance.org/dancejournal/submit-material/
Put A Video on PhiladelphiaDance.TV
There is no better way to promote dance than through video. If you already have a video trailer, demo or reel on YouTube or Vimeo, you can gain more hits and exposure by also submitting it on PhiladelphiaDANCE.TV to specifically reach dance audiences. Simply go to http://www.philadelphiadance.tv/ and go to the link in the main menu to submit your video.
Use Our Press Release Service to Reach The Media
Create one release and have it automatically sent to over 300 traditional print media, radio, TV, arts bloggers and search engines. This service may ONLY be used by those whose releases meet our format and criteria. We reserve sole discretion on whether your release will be accepted based on guidelines given to us by press sources who participate in this program. In other words, you press release must be properly formatted and contain all the necessary information required by major media. A guide for writing press releases is also available on the site. For more information and to submit your release, go to http://philadelphiadance.org/pressreleases/
Create a Podcast
This site features podcasts of interviews with Philadelphia dancers and choreographers who are actively creating work in the region. You can create and record your own audio podcast with your computer or cell phone, providing audiences with greater insight in to your upcoming performances as well as both choreographer and dancer perspectives on the work to be presented.
