Jane Fries lives in the Philadelphia area and has written a regular column for the Dance Journal since 2015. Her writing has also appeared in Dance Magazine, Ballet Review and the Mills College Quarterly. She is currently working on a biography of the pioneering modern dancer and educator Marian Van Tuyl, who founded the Mills College Dance Department in 1941.
