WE MOVE Philadelphia Dance Festival, Nov 6th

Francesca Marinaro and Jamie Drye of Drye|Marinaro Dance Company, and founders of RIZE Movement and Art Center are excited to present We Move Philadelphia Dance Festival this November. The duo who own and operate a dance studio in the Poconos, as well as an NYC-based dance company have come to Philly to embark on a new creative space that bridges dance education and professional dance. WE MOVE does just that. The full day of events offers opportunities for families to take a class together in a family-style morning class, as well as a Graham technique class geared towards teens and professionals. The festival culminates in a live performance presenting work by eleven artists from throughout the east coast. The mixed-bill performance will be sharing work by choreographers Jamie Drye, Francesca Marinaro, Joseph Ambrosia, Stephen Hill, Megan Flynn, Natalie Gotter, Erica Isakower, Chloe Kastner, Becky Visintainer, Jena Barton, and Jill Moshman.

At 10:00 am RIZE Artist in Residence Marcie Mamura will offer Expanded Circles with Friends and Family. This class is for individuals and collectives, friends and family together. Bodies, brains, hearts, and spirits will be invited to warm up, explore movement modes, improvise, honor inspirations, design dancing games, and make our own creative choices. Participation looks and feels like a multitude of things. This class values play, presence and people. The most important things to bring are your curiosity and your whole self. This class is 45 min long.

At 12:00PM Drye|Marinaro dancer, Marion Helfestein will teach a Martha Graham Technique. This open-level class will offer a movement experience centered around the core power of Graham’s signature contraction and release. This technique promotes strength, stamina, and self-expression that serve as a foundation for excellence in many styles of dance.

The Festival will culminate in a mixed-bill performance at RIZE Movement and Art Center in Manayunk at 7:30 pm. The cost to attend is $15 per person. Masks are required for the entire festival.
