SHARP Dance Company is thrilled to present The Other Side, the company’s first full production in Philadelphia since the COVID-19 shutdown. The Other Side features choreography by Joe Cotler, Jon Lehrer, Miguel Quiñones, and Diane Sharp-Nachsin.
Former Koresh Dance Company member, Cotler, has set several pieces with SHARP Dance Company and collaborated with the Company’s Artistic Director, Sharp-Nachsin, on a larger breath of work called PUZZLE. The company will be presenting his piece Revolution and a collaborative world premiere prelude section of PUZZLE, co-choreographed with Sharp-Nachsin.
I AM HERE is the first full company piece, created for SHARP Dance Company by Quiñones. Quiñones was a former Parsons Dance company member from 2005-2011. The Jon Lehrer Dance Company, based in NYC, was commissioned to set his work Murmur for the company’s canceled Spring 2020 performance. SHARP is excited to have the opportunity to present this beautiful piece finally.
Lastly, Sharp-Nachsin will be presenting several company favorites and premiering a new solo choreographed for veteran dancer Kate Lombardi, who is celebrating her 10th anniversary with the company.
Performers include Juliet Bernstein, Wren Coleman, Katherine Corbett, Sandra Davis, Kate Lombardi, Miguel Quiñones, Rosemary Scalise, and Matthew Zimmerman.
The mission of SHARP Dance Company is to translate raw human emotion utilizing contemporary movement to connect the audience through individual interpretation. SHARP is a fifteen-year-old modern dance company, and its theory of “meaning behind the movement” is shown prominently throughout its work. SHARP feels that dance should be more than performance; it should be an experience.
