Opine Dance Film Festival Announces 6th Season

Opine Dance Film Festival is an annual event that celebrates dance film makers nationally and internationally who are creating work with meaning. March 25-28, 2021 will mark the 6th year of the festival, and the second year online, due to Covid-19. Celebrating dance filmmakers nationally and internationally, the festival boasts four categories this season: Professional, The Newbie Filmmaker, In The Time of Covid, and Student.

From 250 submissions, the festival team has curated 44 films across the four categories, speaking to wider themes of identity, relationships, socioeconomic climates, global perspectives, and confrontations, all while pushing the boundaries of the artist and viewer.

This year’s festival will span from 16 different countries, making the festival a widely international offering of dance film. The program prioritizes both inclusion and diversity through the marriage of dance and film, while also emphasizing the democratization of socioeconomic, political, and identity driven conversations across cultures, contexts and locations.

Screened entirely online, the festival will be free of charge to the public for the duration. The title of “Festival Favorite” will be awarded in each category, through participation and voting from the audience.
