On April 29th and 30th, 2016 at 7PM and 9PM, Zornitsa Stoyanova will present a new solo multimedia performance work titled Explicit Female at Fidget Space, 1714 N. Mascher St, Philadelphia, PA. Tickets will be sold online and at the door $15 – $25 sliding scale.
Explicit Female is an interactive event for one performer and twenty audience members. It is an immersion into the female body. Featuring personal narratives, custom designed lighting and live feed special effects; it aims to process the mystery of the shapeshifting form half of the world resides in. Casual, yet intimate, the performance strives to connect deeply and kinesthetically to the viewers, at times asking them to participate in the very creation of the event itself.
Known as a choreographer in Philadelphia, since the birth of her son Zornitsa has primarily worked with photography and film. An extension of her visual art, Explicit Female is the first evening length work since 2013. It is the culmination of Zornitsa’s artist residency at Fidget Space.
Zornitsa is devoted to supporting the Philadelphia dance community and other artist mothers. Through her project Explicit Female, she will raise awareness and funds for Moms Make Art – a residency she is creating in collaboration with Mascher Space Cooperative and Fidget Space in fall 2016. The fundraiser will offer her video and photography works for purchase and all proceeds will go to the funds this new residency.
