So i’ve known Alie Vidich the main force behind Invisible River for at least five plus years and sadly this year was the 1st time I attended Invisible River. Bad photographer. Even though I haven’t had the pleasure of attending till year three I have to applaud Alie on making her vision a reality and sustaining it into a third year and i’m sure what will be at least a 4th or 5th year. That kind of passion to make art happen and also make it accessible is awesome in itself especially when you figure the bureaucracy that must be dealt with to make said event happen.
So back to the event, definitely enjoyed the paddle board dancing and of course the aerial performance with aerial dancers Alie Vidich and Crystal Willison. The only regret I had was since I shot from the land I wish I had one of those high powered zoom lenses the sports photographers use. My 70-200 just wasn’t getting it done even with a 1.4X converter lens attached. Note to self and other photogs out there know as much about your setting for site specific performances as possible from how audience will be situated to lighting being used to the equipment you will decide to bring.
Before I give you a brief photo recap of Invisible River 2015 be sure to check out their website InvisibleRiver.org to not only learn more about the project but even more importantly to learn how you can help support it and ensure those future performances happen. Art like this needs to happen and be accessible to enrich both our lives and our community so be sure to check it out.
