by Steven Weisz for The Dance Journal
Before I ever started PhiladelphiaDANCE.org, my involvement with the dance community began in the mid-1970′s when as a student at University of Pennsylvania, I started a special events agency, Rainbow Promotions Inc. As one of the largest event producers in Philadelphia, we booked quiet a variety of dance acts for events throughout the city. Many of these early acts, I manage to capture on video and have had stored away for quite some time. In order to preserve this small slice of Philadelphia’s dance history, I hope to restore these tapes and be able to digitize them to the web.

RHYTHM ON WHEELS
This was one of the original Philadelphia skate dance troupes led by Master J. This video was shot back in 1989 and restored. There are some segments slightly out of sync due to aging of the tape.
Rhythm on Wheels, a group of 10-12 skaters, usually performed at weddings, corporate parties, benefits, Atlantic City casinos, local television shows, and dance clubs. This footage includes various performance clips including at Willow Grove Mall as well as in studio rehearsals.

He is president and founder of Rainbow Promotions Inc., a special events and entertainment agency established in the late 70’s, that services corporate and retail accounts both locally and nationally.
