2011 Marks Philadelphia Dance Projects 10th Annual Motion Pictures

2011 marks the 10th annual Motion Pictures, a PDP presentation that explores how film and video serve as natural collaborative medium for dance, highlighting the power of image and motion in both. Over the years Motion Pictures has featured experimental and innovative shorts, documentaries, “moc”umentaries and animations. There have been documentaries about Pina Bausch, Maya Deren, Carmen Amaya, Geoffrey Holder and Carmen DeLavallade Mark Morris and the Paris Opera Ballet along with imaginative ground breaking work by Pooh Kaye, Hilary Harris and Lloyd Newson among many others.

This year will feature four separate programs…

Wednesday, October 5 at 6:30PM
Program 1. BREATH MADE VISIBLE -Feature Documentary on Anna Halprin and short
Group Motion/Friday Night

Wednesday, October 5 at 8PM
Program 2. The Making of “Tango Macbeth”
A PDP Informance with Filmmaker,Nadine Patterson, Composer,Lenny Seidman and Choreographer, Zane Booker

Thursday, October 6 at 6:30PM
Program 3. Shorts Fest
SHORTS FEST features playful, place-based and layered works revealing the draw of dance to video, by videographers from Ireland, Canada, and the US including Philly locals Alex Tyson, Liz Goldberg, Kathy Rose and Anula Shetty.

Thursday, October 6 at 8 PM
Program 4. Merce Cunningham: A Lifetime in Dance (Charles Atlas/USA/ 2000/80min)
