Mann Center’s Young People’s Concert Series to feature the Rock School

The Mann Center’s annual free Young People’s Concert Series plays a vital role in community outreach, making high-quality and culturally diverse performing arts programs accessible to all children in an informal atmosphere. Performances by professional and emerging artists offer our young people a chance to experience and be inspired by the talents of others their age!

On Tuesday, August 3rd at 11am , The Mann Center’s Young People’s Concert Series will feature The Rock School in a family friendly production entitled, Rhapsody of Rock.

Rhapsody of Rock will showcase our Summer Intensive students performing an eclectic range of techniques from ballet and jazz to hip-hop and modern. Ballet Mistress Mariaelena Ruiz presents a new work to the music from Avatar as well as the finale to Bizet’s Symphony in C. Ballet Mistress Jennifer Wheat shows off SPYZ, a thriller ballet complete with elegant spies, 60s spunky kids and hip hop cat burglars! Music from James Bond, Mission Impossible, Austin Powers and Michael Jackson will be sure to excite the audience. Sarah Cooper, using a Parisian theme, created a dance for 9-12 year olds with music of Gershwin and Leroy Anderson. We will also welcome various guest performers as well as the crowd’s favorite confetti cannons!
