Horror done PIMA style

PIMA Group announces the upcoming premiere performance of ohhorror, a live horror dance performance. Set to a score of  “found sounds”, ohhorroris the result of investigating horror films by Artistic Director, Melisa Putz. The performance conjures up nightmares, inner fears, demons and possessions with the campy and straightforward tactics and formulas used in horror films. Known for their experimental nature of music and dance collaborations, PIMA Group sets out to create horror-influenced performances and visual installations throughout the VOX Populi Gallery.

PIMA Group Artistic Director, Melisa Putz, has been working with dancers, Dawn Ann Bryant, Ruth Feinblum, Christina Gesauldi and Zornitsa Stoyanova,to create the movement score for ohhorror.

PIMA Group received sound clips from artists, audiences, friends and family throughout the Fall 2009 during their call for Found Sounds. These sound clips, records and tapes will be used to create the sound score for the horror dance.

During the performance, audience members will have the freedom to move through the various rooms of the Vox Populi Gallery. Sound, lighting and video projections will be placed around the gallery to immerse the viewer in a world of panic, suspense, terror and mystery.

PIMA Group received generous funding in support of this project from Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the Puffin Foundation. PIMA Group is also funded through the Philadelphia Cultural Fund.
