Dance Del Bello will honor Philadelphia native David Kloss

Dance Del Bello presents 30th Anniversary Gala Performance of the ballet “A Christmas Carol”

Dance Del Bello will honor Philadelphia native David Kloss, acclaimed choreographer and former principal dancer with Pennsylvania Ballet, on December 12, 2009, at New Freedom Theatre, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the premiere of his ballet “A Christmas Carol.”

The festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a 6 p.m. gala performance of A Christmas Carol by Dance Del Bello, and conclude with a champagne reception.

The ballet A Christmas Carol, set to the music of Benjamin Britten, was conceived and choreographed by Mr. Kloss upon obtaining the rights from the Dickens family. Declared by Cedric Dickens, great-grandson of Charles Dickens, “a brilliant interpretation” and “…a very happy occasion,” this captivating interpretation sweeps audiences both young and old along with Scrooge on the journey as he confronts a past both joyful and painful, a present of happiness and suffering, a future of loneliness and despair, to the ultimate realization of the joy derived from treating others with kindness and compassion – a timely message indeed.

Additional performances of this holiday classic will take place on Friday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 13 at 3 p.m.  The gala reception and performances will be held at the New Freedom Theatre, 1346 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA.  Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for students and seniors, and $8 for children under 7 years of age. Discounts available for groups of 10 or more. Please inquire about gala ticket pricing.
