ETC Series Season Finale

The ETC. Performance Series began in 2007 for the sole purpose creating awareness about the University City Arts League (UCAL)  on Spruce Street.  Director and Producer Charles Tyson, Jr. used his skills and network to draw new talent and audiences to UCAL’s doors.  He also wanted to fill the void left by the popular GLUE Performance Series for performing artists with works-in-progress, who needed a new audience and a nurturing incubator for their work.

That first showcase, featured some of Tyson’s dance colleagues  (Eng & Friends Dance Company and SURGE Dance Team) as well as his own dance company, Underground DanceWorks.  This showcase, and all the ones that followed were remarkably well received and filled to maximum capacity.  It created a buzz in the performing arts community, drawing the interests of more and more artists of varying genres seeking to perform in the series.

By the end of that first season, Tyson saw the potential of the ETC series and knew that a larger space was going to be necessary.  With the partnership and help of Terri Shockley at the Community Education Center on Lancaster Avenue,  a new, bigger and better season of art and artists was soon underway.

ETC.  in it’s  short history has attracted  such talent as Stephen Welsh/Swerve, SHARP Dance Company, VADA Dance collective, and IdRatherBeHere to the CEC’s Meetinghouse Theater.

This June, marks the end of the second season of ETC.  with performances by Dawn Ann Bryant, AmbiDextrous, Rebecca Cupples, Zornitsa Stoyanova, SURGE Dance Team, Stephen Welsh/SWERVE and Underground DanceWorks (UDW).
