Philadelphia’s Amanda Miller Performs At The Met

No stranger to the world of opera, Amanda Miller is about to venture into the realm of furies and blessed spirits. This month, Ms. Miller, co-artistic director of Miro Dance Theatre, makes her Metropolitan Opera debut in Christoph Willibald Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice.

The opera tells the story of Orpheus, the mythological musician who journeyed to the Underworld in order to bring his wife, Eurydice, back from the dead. Approximately half of the 90-minute performance consists of dance. Ms. Miller is one of 18 dancers and performs a featured duet.

The prospect of working with the legendary Mark Morris, director and choreographer of the Met’s production, prompted Ms. Miller to compete with more than 500 other dancers for a part in Orfeo. READ FULL ARTICLE
