International Ballet Exchange (IBE) will present the world-renowned Donetsk Ballet of Ukraine in two performances of The Nutcracker.The performances will take place on December 20 at Plymouth/Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting, showcasing the athleticism, virtuosity, and aesthetic brilliance of the company.Artistic Director Vadim Pisarev, who has won several distinguished awards, including gold medals in international competitions, has assembled a world-class ballet company. Since 1989, the company has had several international tours, including Italy, Spain, Norway, Oman, France, Belarus, China, and Japan. In the United States, the Donetsk has visited Washington, D.C., New York City, Baltimore, Stockton, California, and Philadelphia.

The company continues to amaze audiences with their dazzling technique and artistry. The power of the male dancers, and the delicacy of the ballerinas in beautifully choreographed staging continue to leave audiences exhilarated

This Nutcracker production will include 18 professional dancers from Ukraine, and 50 local ballet students who will dance the children’s parts. The two performances at Plymouth/Whitemarsh High School, 201 East Germantown Pike, will be on Saturday, December 20, at 2 pm and 6:30 p.m.

Ticket prices are $18 for students and seniors, and $28 for adults.All seats are reserved and tickets can be purchased at the door. To reserve tickets in advance, call 215-849-7950 or 1-800-849-4919. Group rates are available.

The performances are sponsored by the IBE. IBE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high-quality ballet education, performance opportunities, and cross-cultural exposure to young aspiring ballet dancers. IBE will also present The Nutcracker at reduced rates for school children throughout the city at Northeast High School at Cottman and Algon streets, on Friday, December 19, at 10 a.m.
