SHARP Dance Company blends classic dance technique with intriguing stories that speak to the human experience, which creates an artistic experience that is relatable to all audiences.

SHARP has been touring nationally and internationally for the past 13 years.  SHARP hasperformed in over 30 cities in the U.S. such as: New York, Rochester, Phoenix, Chicago, Cincinnati, Portland, San Diego, Brooklyn, Boulder and Portsmouth, among others. The company was selected as one of 11 artists world wide to the BAU Institute in Italy for an artist residency and was selected for an artist residency in Paros, Greece, which inspired their original work “The Garden Tour”. SHARP has also performed in England as part of the BedFringe.

SHARP is known for it’s collaborative and social conscious work. Some of our former collaborators include:  guest choreographers Steven Vaughn (former Parsons Dance Company member), Kevin Ferguson (former Parsons Dance Company member and Doug Elkins Dance Company), Joe Cotler (Koresh Dance Company), Charles Tyson (Underground Dance Works), and more. SHARP has also worked with photographer Kylene Cleaver, Projection Artist Lauren Mandilian Huot and Composers Liliyana Danieva (Russia), and J (Philadelphia).

The mission of SHARP Dance Co. is to translate raw human emotion utilizing contemporarymovement to connect the audience through individual interpretation. SHARP is a fourteen-year-old 501©3 modern dance company and its theory of “meaning behind movement” isshown prominently throughout their work. SHARP feels that dance should be more than aperformance it should be an experience.

Additionally, the company offers master classes in Modern, Hip Hop, Ballet, “Its never too late” classes (for older adults who always wanted to dance) and company repertoire to engage different communities.
