Eva Szabo was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary. She was accepted into the Hungarian National Ballet Institute in 1970, graduating with honors as part of the genesis of the Gyori Ballet. Retiring from the Gyori Ballet in 1988, she took her teaching diploma and her family to Philadelphia. Koresh School of Dance-Intermediate Modern Jazz with Melissa Rector

Dancers with previous training will enjoy the transition into an intermediate level class. Students will progress at a quick yet comfortable pace while increasing strength and flexibility. Movement combinations are layered with multiple steps to refine and advance your dance technique on a pre-professional level.

After studying at the North Carolina School of the Arts and Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Melissa Rector obtained her Certificate of Dance from The University of the Arts in 1993. Following graduation, she obtained a scholarship to study at the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet. Melissa has been dancing with Koresh Dance Company since its inception in 1991 and is the company’s Assistant Artistic Director. At the Koresh School of Dance she teaches her unique style that blends Modern Jazz and Luigi technique. Additionally, Melissa is the Artistic Director and Choreographer for the Koresh Youth Ensemble. Her work has been performed locally at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Philadelphia Youth Dance Festival, Annenberg Center, Drexel University’s Mandell Theater, PeriDance Capezio Center in New York City, among other places. She frequently travels around the country to perform, teach master classes, and set choreography on students.

Lara’s training is in the Vaganova method and she utilizes these fundamental building blocks of Classical Ballet to formulate her classes. At the same time, her aim is to find a balance between the rules and creating a safe, inviting space for movers of all levels to join together and enjoy the presentation of ballet as a performing art. Her goal is to make ballet not only accessible but a fun mode of expression in a welcoming environment.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! An absolute beginning class that will introduce basic dance vocabulary and emphasize proper posture, muscle development, flexibility, musicality, and grace of movement. Steps are introduced incrementally so that self-esteem and technique develop in a positive atmosphere. This class is highly recommended for first time students and those who are unfamiliar with basic dance technique.

Beginner: This class is friendly to novice dancers or students who have not danced for many years. We will continue to emphasize proper posture, muscle development, flexibility, musicality, and grace of movement through beginner level combinations. Students are expected to know basic dance vocabulary and have a desire to improve their strength and technique.

Intermediate: Dancers with previous training will enjoy the transition into an intermediate level class. Students will progress at a quick yet comfortable pace while increasing strength and flexibility. Movement combinations are layered with multiple steps to refine and advance your dance technique on a pre-professional level.

Michelle Figueiredo “Chellie Fig” is a former Captain of the Sixers Dancers and has performed across China on an NBA China tour numerous times. She has danced back-up with artists such as Nico & Vinz, Pharrell Williams, Vanilla Ice, and more. She received a BA in Dance Performance from ARB’s Princeton Ballet School and continues to train at Millennium Dance Complex and Broadway Dance Center.

Pre-professional and professional dancers with an extensive background in dance training will benefit from this class. An advanced level class moves quickly and is meant to challenge you as a dance artist.

Ronen “Roni” Koresh, a native of Israel, began his career with the renowned Batsheva Dance Company of Tel Aviv. Immigrating to the U.S. in 1983, he studied in New York with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater prior to settling in Philadelphia, where he performed with Shimon Braun’s acclaimed “Waves” Jazz Dance Company. After performing internationally, his interest shifted towards choreography, and he founded Koresh Dance Company in 1991. Shortly after, in 1993, he opened the Koresh School of Dance, serving as a residence for his company and a training center for the Philadelphia dance community. In addition to receiving numerous grants, Roni is a recipient of several choreographic fellowships from the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts, the PEW Charitable Trusts, and the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts. Roni regularly travels to conduct master classes, set choreography, conduct residencies, and showcase his company throughout the country.

Beginner Hip Hop with Tyger-B

A ‘jack of all trades’, an individual dedicated to his careers, and an inspiration to those who have witness a show, battle, piece of choreography, training session, painting, poetry from his book, or thoughts/words on a panel from this positive individual. Tyger-B has taken the years granted to him and treated them with countless hours of focus, sweat, determination, and with a positive perspective. Taking his abilities around the globe, Tyger-B has spread his gifts throughout the USA, Russia, Canada, South Africa, Paris, Japan, Uzbekistan, China, London, and many other location. Moving in the the styles of hiphop, house, dancehall, salsa, and many more as a representative of the USA. Studying the techniques of ballet, modern, jazz, tap, and more at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Training in the movements of muay thai, kick boxing, taekwondo, capoeira, and other martial arts for over two decades. All of these attributes contribute to his creative choreography, his diverse ability to switch genres, and his quick eye.  With this many things under his belt, Tyger-B has used his choreography and dancing abilities to set works on Pennsylvania Ballet ll, many recognizable festivals throughout the world, over a decade in the commercial industry with several artist like R&B singer Ginuwune, Pop artist Raven Symone, MTV’s Mena Heaven, and many other companies, showcases, competitions and vocalist. Throughout his many events and memorable captures, it’s always a factor for Tyger-B to continuously evolve, share his positivity, and leave a piece of his heart with everyone possible, no matter the size. Fang Ju-Chou Gant, born and raised in Taiwan, came to the United States to further her study of dance. She earned an Associate Degree of Dance in Australia from Queensland University of Technology Academy of Arts/Dance and received her BFA in Dance Education from the University of the Arts. She is trained in a wide variety of dance styles and stagecraft. Fang-Ju joined Koresh Dance Company in 1998 and currently travels to perform and teach across the U.S.
