Metaphors/Magic: a weekly dance practice with Kate Seethaler

floor work and improv and smiles–oh my! come play explore take risks get persnickety and research your body thoughtfully. senses of humor and genuine interest are the only prerequisites. contemporary technique material is geared toward the intermediate/advance level but anyone is welcome to join. (pants kneepads and long sleeves are a good idea.)Kate Seethaler is an improviser choreographer educator performer and semi-new Philadelphian. Her work moves from questions about the audience/performer relationship the rapport between serious and silly and utilizing improvisation to deepen realms of perception. Kate has most recently worked with choreographers Michael Figueroa Steph Turner Barbie Diewald and Deborah Goffe. She has served on the faculties of Springfield College School for Contemporary Dance & Thought Aldrich Pilates The Taft School and Smith College. Kate earned an MFA in Dance from Smith and a BA from Springfield College. In addition to teaching at Mascher Space Cooperative Kate currently serves as the Space/Rental Coordinator for Mascher where she is also an artist-in-residence. In her spare time she takes care of adorable hilarious children that are not her own. ***photo credit Joe Sills
