KYLD Graham Technique with Jennifer Binford Johnson

Class Description: Jennifer’s class is based on the concepts of the Martha Graham technique. While honoring the choreography and structure of the Graham tradition, her approach to the technique class is heavily influenced by her research in dance medicine, biomechanics, kinesiology, and numerous methodologies for training the dancer body. Floor work will make up the first half of the class; focusing deeply on the roots of the technique; the contraction, release, and the spiral of the torso. Center floor incorporates the limbs in specific exercises to develop coordination, strength and balance. Class culminates with phrases of choreography moving through space and encourages individual expression through the use of dynamic phrasing, musicality and theatrical interpretation.
