FringeArts – Take It Away Dance – A Month of Sundays
September 20 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 4:00 pm on Sunday, repeating until October 4, 2020
Quarantine can feel longer than a Month of Sundays. Take It Away Dance has the fix for a real Month of Sundays: a tap dance and jazz music concert live-streamed to you, every Sunday afternoon, during the Fringe. Each week: a new show. Each week: anything can happen. Sit back, relax and tune in for “the time of your life.” (Broad St Review).
For A Month of Sundays, Artistic Director, Pamela Hetherington, will present new choreography that features the music of Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Thad Jones and Ray Brown. To add to the surprises, special guests will drop by every Sunday…and get ready, because we will take YOUR requests, throughout the show.
Our tap dancers are arranged into the band as instrumentalists and their movements are choreographed as music. On the bandstand each week are five tap dance improvisers: Lauren Belasco, Olivia Bohrer, Alec Chupik, Pamela Hetherington, and Kristin Potocki. The company’s house band, The Jazz Tap Quintet — well, we are biased, but we feel it’s made up of the hippest jazz musicians in Philly: Tim Brey (piano), Paul Giess (trumpet), Jon Katz (saxophone), Nicholas Krolak (bass), and Claudio de Pujadas (drums).
The weekly concerts will stream from Sound Space Performing Arts in Brewerytown. Ticket holders will join our private Facebook group, where they can comment live, listen virtually with friends, and call tunes. Ticket holders will have access to the group for 24 hours after the show. Purchasers who attend all four shows will have access to the group all month long for commenting, conversation, and more surprises.
