FringeArts – Leah Stein Dance Company: Art Room Outdoors: REAP What You Show
September 19 @ 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm
or the Fringe 2021 performance season, the Leah Stein Dance Company invites audiences to an interactive, outdoor event that will run for 4 hours in the parking lot of the Art Room Studio in South Philly. This event will provide space for guests to mingle after months of separation, witness live works from local artists, including former REAP artists, Emily Bate, Ama Gora and L. Graciella Maiolatesi, and participate in guided improvisational movement scores. During the event, we will introduce our reimagined REAP (Residency for Emerging Artists) program.
Extending the celebration of our 20th Anniversary season, our program will include exclusive access to LSDC’s archival works, live performance, and later in the evening a new film created during the pandemic featuring dance artists: Crux, Shannon Brooks, Maddie Hopfield, Kimya Jackson, L. Graciella Maiolatesi, Gabrielle Revlock, and Michele Tantoco.
There will be vegan-friendly food, drinks, mixing, and space for dancing in between performances. Performances and viewings will be repeated throughout the event providing the audience with the initiative to “choose their own adventure” as they roam from mingling to witnessing, to participating. While this event appears chaotic at first, if COVID has taught us anything, it is how we come together amidst the chaos, deeply listen to our impulses, and still find the through-line amongst the noise.
All are welcome. There may be some mature content issues of race, gender, sexuality. Audiences may choose how they engage. Appropriate for Ages 18+
Come as you are.
