Drexel Dance Ensemble and FreshDance Present: Sites of Dance

“Sites of Dance” will take you on a captivating, walking tour through Drexel’s campus where audience members will witness dance in unique locations. Through mentorship and creative research, student choreographers dive into their own artistic impetus to create compelling site responsive dance. The evening concludes with choreography by hip-hop choreographer, Imani Griffith and Dance Ensemble Director, Olive Prince. Dance Ensemble and FreshDance students join forces to create this unique event and will feature a performance by the Drexel University Experimental Music Ensemble.
This special site-specific concert serves as a novel way to witness dance in relationship to architecture. For this unique event Dance Ensemble and FreshDance students will collaborate with University Chorus and Chamber Singers. Through mentorship and creative research, students will dive into their own artistic impetus. Come see emerging artistic voices as they develop unique dance and performance. You won’t want to miss this captivating evening of dance!
Ticketholders will be assigned groups and escorted by guides to various performance sites. Guides will remain with groups for the entire performance, escorting patrons through the series of different sites, all culminating together at the final performance site. Audiences will be standing throughout this engagement and walking from one site-specific dance piece to the next, across various campus terrain, including some levels and stairs. There are a total of seven sites within a two-block radius. Sites are both outside and indoors. We recommend wearing appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather and walking.
