The Whole Shebang is the brainchild of Meg Foley and Carmichael Jones – a space that will provide a South Philly home for the practices of other working artists and teachers while also supporting their own careers as working artists. It is intended as a space for experimentation, energy collision, and supported trying-out-of-things. Meg is a performer, dancer, choreographer, and director of resident company moving parts whose work investigates how our sense of self is created through our physical experiences. Carmichael is a glass artist and sculptor whose playful and slightly irreverent work explores the everyday and the never-seen-before. As collaborators and partners they intend for The Whole Shebang to be a hub for creative and experimental arts in South Philly.
Shebang contains private studios for flameworking and sculpture, and a public dance and movement studio. Shebang will offer classes and workshops in everything from dance performance research to pilates to cross-disciplinary collaboration to small arts business marketing, in addition to offering space rental (at affordable rates for working artists) and hosting performance salons. It is the whole shebang.
