GRANT & FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
This calendar is designed to provide helpful information on foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities for individual choreographers and dance organizations. The information is arranged in chronological order according to application deadline date. Note – many funders accept applications on a rolling basis with no firm deadline date. Because funding information constantly changes, we strongly urge you to contact funder websites and offices to receive the latest information on application policies, procedures, and deadlines before submitting a proposal for support.
While our goal is to make this information as accurate as possible, PhiladelphiaDANCE.org does not accept responsibility for any inaccuracies contained herein. If you know of sources or deadlines not included in this calendar, please share your information with the community. Send your funding lead to us at philadelphiadance@gmail.com and we’ll post it here as soon as possible. Thank you!

The focus of the program is on increasing presenters’ knowledge of international performing artists based outside the U.S. and the cultural context for these artists’ work. In promoting cross-cultural arts programming, travel to the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, and Africa is strongly encouraged. The maximum amount awarded per individual organization is $2,000. Group travel subsidies of three or more presenters are also available, with the maximum award of $10,000. All applicants must be members of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters. NEA: Challenge America Fast Track Grant
http://arts.endow.gov/grants/apply/GAP11/Challenge.html
The Challenge America Fast-Track category offers support primarily to small and mid-sized organizations for projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations — those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability. Age alone (e.g., youth, seniors) does not qualify a group as underserved; at least one of the underserved characteristics noted here also must be present. This category, as an essential component of the Arts Endowment’s goal of providing wide access to artistic excellence, supports local projects that can have significant effects within communities. Grants are available for professional arts programming and for projects that emphasize the potential of the arts in community development.

Grants Enhance Comprehensive Capital Campaigns
Kresge Foundation: Capital Challenge Grant Program
The Kresge Foundation supports communities in the United States and around the world by strengthening the nonprofit organizations that serve them. The Foundation’s six major areas of interest are health, environment, arts and culture, education, human services, and community development. Through the Capital Challenge Grant Program, the Foundation supports nonprofit organizations that are engaged in comprehensive campaigns designed to support institutional growth through the construction of new facilities as well as the acquisition or renovation of existing facilities, the purchase of real property, and the purchase of major integrated equipment systems. Because environmental conservation is one of the Foundation’s values, challenge grant applicants are encouraged to consider green construction issues. The Foundation accepts online letters of intent for this program throughout the year. Visit the website listed above to review the Capital Challenge Grant Program guidelines. Arts and Culture – The arts are a vital component of strong, healthy communities. However, this sector faces several challenges to its long-term sustainability, including a volatile funding climate, under-resourced organizations, changing audiences, turnover in leadership, changes in technology and a fragile arts education system. We find that the values of strengthening community impact, creating opportunity, and promoting innovation are particularly relevant for this set of challenges.
