BodyFields is a Philadelphia based performance collective founded in Spring of 2010 by Briel Driscoll and Nikki Roberts. BodyFields was formed to focus fragmented art forms into a continually fluid energy of creation. Eachperformance is simply a brief swell of resonant humanity, a moment of connection, expression through sound and movement.
To create performance out of art and art out of performance. To blur the lines and confuse the boundaries;to realize the connection between intentionality and construction. To see it all as one. As the feeding of an enormous monster that craves the visual, auditory, and emotional satisfaction. To be together.(www.bodyfieldscollective.com)
The Dangerous And Movin’ Dance Company (dAm) is a new,Philadelphia-based, contemporary dance company whose performances immerse audiences in surreal environments. dAm’s viscerally engaging work incorporates props, technology, and a highly stylized vocabulary. The company investigates common human actions and gestures by manipulating and erratically distorting them in order to create innovative, and at times humorous, choreography.(www.dAmDance.com)
enDOWed movement is a jazz/ hip hop dance company based in Philadelphia and lead by artistic director, Tiffany Brooke Dow. The new company showed its teethe last fall during the2010 Philly Fringe Festival with Bang! Zoom! Pow! A Storyof Broken Borders. The highly dramatic pieces revealed toxic, negative environments, where well-being suffers. (www.endowedmovement.com)
RealLivePeople(In)Motion started out as a group of movers interested in how and why our lives change course. We discovered that within most major life events are smaller moments that matter just as much. Using movement to recognize and interpret these smaller moments, our dances resonate with audiences by quoting from the lives we are living, seeing and questioning. Currently we are building a movement vocabulary that reflects our desire for inventive, athletic movement and our interest in bringing human life onto the stage via familiar gestures and idiosyncratic ticks. It is about virtuosity and looking beautiful but it is also about being exhausted and feeling nervous. It is about being human onstage—part performance, part real-life. (www.rlpim.org)
