Island Spirit On The Main Line

Are you desperate for a Hawaiian escape — minus the expense? Aloha Style on the Main Line, which offers Polynesian dance lessons, is full of island spirit.

For two years, the Narberth studio has attracted students of all levels and ages — from 6 to 70-plus years old — to its current location. Constance Majka and Suzanne Aumack, who run Aloha Style together, previously taught at a local church for approximately four years. The two met years ago when Ms. Aumack was teaching hula in Center City.

Ms. Majka, who fell in love with the dance after her first trip to Hawaii, has been involved with hula for more than 25 years. She has lived in Narberth for 13 years and decided, with Ms. Aumack, to locate their school here as a new addition to the neighborhood.“It’s a great town. It has a ‘Mayberry’ feel to it — a little quirky, a little eclectic, a lot friendly. It didn’t seem like that much of a stretch to add hula to that mix,” Ms. Majka said.
