The arts need your immediate help!
Feb 9th, 2009 | By | Category: Action & AdvocacyThis past Friday, February 6, the Senate passed Senator Coburn’s Amendment 309, which prohibits funding for museums, theaters, art centers, zoos, and aquariums in the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act. To the dismay of many, the amendment passed by a wide vote margin of 73-24, including support from Pennsylvania Senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey.
The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance has created a customized letter (http://ga1.org/campaign/senate_stimulus_09) you can send to the Pennsylvania Senators, asking them to reconsider their vote. Arts and cultural institutions have been vital to the growth and redevelopment of Southeastern Pennsylvania, and have proven to be a sound investment.

The advertisement is slated for release today and tomorrow in some of Washington’s most influential political newspapers such as The Hill, Politico, and Roll Call.
