Old dances or new, Parsons pleases
Oct 18th, 2008 | By Steven Weisz | Category: ReviewsAlmost a quarter-century after it premiered, choreographer David Parson’s tricky dance, Caught, the one with strobe lights that catch the dancer in midair, still catches audiences by their throats and leaves them gasping. So much so that Parsons dares not remove it from the repertoire.
He no longer dances the demanding piece, instead passing it on to company members present and past. Sumayah McRae danced it spectacularly at the Annenberg Center for the Arts in 2003.
